Mission Projects for 2015

reachout

For 2015, our Mission Projects will be local, regional, and international in scope.

1)      Locally, we will be supporting the Links 2 Care school backpack program. Click here for more info.

2)      Regionally, we are going to be supplying some sundry items for the clients of Evangel Hall, especially for the women.  As someone recently said to me, “the face of homelessness tends to be male,” meaning that much of what comes into Evangel Hall is either neutral or male-biased.  Click here for Evangel Hall needed items list.

3)      Internationally, we have committed to raise $1000 to benefit the clients of The Lending Journey.  TLJ is a micro-financing organization that gives clients (mostly single women) in Nicaragua small loans to start up business ventures that then allow them to experience success in many dimensions.  Click here for more info.

Easter - Holy Week - Special Events
cross

Special events during Holy Week will include:
  • Maundy Thursday (April 2nd), starting at 6:30 at Limehouse . Pot-luck supper, but elements of the Jewish seder meal will also be present, culminating in a remembrance of the Last Supper.
  • Good Friday (April 3rd), 10:00, at Knox – a service of worship and remembrance that will include a choir cantata that will lead us to the foot of the cross.
  • Easter Sunday (April 5th), at regular worship times: the celebration of the resurrection, including communion!

The Lending Journey - Mission Project

Mission Project #3

Internationally, we have committed to raise $1000 to benefit the clients of The Lending Journey.  TLJ is a micro-financing organization that gives clients (mostly single women) in Nicaragua small loans to start up business ventures that then allow them to experience success in many dimensions.  Kathy Boose is the Treasurer for The Lending Journey, and will be doing a presentation on her own trip down there after she and Rev. Steve return on April 14th (the leave on the 7th) – this donation is not to pay for her trip!  (Although if you wish to assist with her costs, please see her directly).  More information about The Lending Journey’s work can be found at http://www.thelendingjourney.com/
