As a celebration of "Canada 150" and as it is also 150 years of a Knox Church building on this corner, we are planning a Strawberry Social and Display of Quilts on Saturday June 24 from 10am to 1pm. If you have a special quilt in your family or a quilt made by our quilting group over the years we would be very happy to display it. We will need many volunteers and participants so please mark your calendars now for our celebration.

Syrian Refugee Update : G-FORCe

GFORCe: Our new friends from Syria loved celebrating Christmas in Canada. Thanks to many GFORCe volunteers, they decorated with lights and a tree, went to Light Up the Hills and the local Santa Claus parade, marvelled at the musical light show on Johnson Court, and attended concerts and services at all three of our churches and Holy Cross Church. In January, we hope to take the boys sledding and skating and help them make a snowman. All three are doing well at school and in sports, dance and music. In 2017, the three adults will continue with English classes in Milton every morning, and Diala’s husband Salim is preparing to try his driver’s test. We have a lead on part-time carpentry work for him at a business close to home. In December Diala’s brother Salim worked afternoons at Fraser Direct. All family members have been receiving free dental care from Dr. Faimay Naqvi’s practice, and free eye care from Dr. Ben Giddens Optometrist. The family made beautiful Christmas cards for each of our churches and special baking for some GFORCe volunteers. They send this message to everyone: “Thanks for everything you have done for us. May baby Jesus bring you and your families lots of love and fill your lives with joy and bliss.”
